How we applied the ‘Ace approach’ to a remote, South American, deepwater project
With our iconic and vibrant pink branding, you may not be surprised to hear that we like to stand out. While our visual identity helps us to look different, it’s our ‘Ace approach’ which sets our operations and outputs apart from the rest.
Simply put, the Ace approach sees innovation placed at the heart of everything we do. This desire to innovate means that if a unique opportunity exists, we will never shy away from the challenge.
An opportunity with a client in a remote, South American, deepwater area gave us the opportunity to demonstrate this.
We were approached by the operator regarding the placement of a 13-5/8” casing string below a 17-7/8” liner for an exploration well, off the coast of Uruguay.
Following detailed discussions, we understood that there was some uncertainty as to whether downhole challenges would require a 16” contingency liner to be set between the casing strings.
The operator thought they had two options:
Firstly, they could purchase centralizer subs and take a risk by running them regardless of the presence of the 16” liner.
Alternatively, they could use a combination of centralizer subs and traditional centralizers to overcome the issue.
Neither of these options provided a cost-effective solution, as both would have required higher levels of initial investment and long-term inventory management.
However, our ARC-Slim product helped the client to avoid these unwelcome issues. Its unique design ensured that it was able to pass through the 16” liner while delivering the high holding force required to ensure their centralizers remained in place on the casing string.
Delivering unrivalled holding force under all operating conditions the ARC-Slim is the first 90,000lb+ rated stop collar on the market. Its use in this case provided a viable, cost-effective, and ultimately successful alternative.
We were born from the belief that we can always do better, and we are proud that we can demonstrate this with examples like that noted above. A strong focus on innovation means that we are constantly finding new ways to help our customers save time, money and improve operational efficiency.
